With steady flows and mild weather, both fly and spin fishing will be highly productive, especially with terrestrials and streamers. Check specific river or section availability before heading out.

River & Lake Conditions

• Fallentimber Creek: Flow at 1.2 m³/s and rising slowly. Near summer fishing conditions — expect normal fishing levels with good clarity. It's a great day for brown and rainbow trout.
• Red Deer River Headwaters: Flows at 12.9 m³/s, falling steadily. Low water levels bring clear conditions perfect for targeting cutthroat and bull trout.
• Red Deer River — Sundre/Foothills: Falling flows at 23.3 m³/s and typical of this season. Ideal for exploring side channels and bank edges.
• Dickson Tailwaters: Flow at 25.1 m³/s, decreasing now. Excellent conditions for brown trout and pike — surface and subsurface presentations are effective with consistent flows.

• Bow Valley/Foothills: Overcast with gusty winds up to 40 km/h. Focus on nymphing or using weighted streamers on the Bow, as wind complicates dry fly presentations.

Hatch Activity & Fly Fishing

• Nymph Fishing: On Fallentimber Creek, use Pheasant Tail nymphs #16-18 as indicators show significant activity pre-hatch. With flows constant, nymphing deep in riffles is effective.
